Minimum stay:
Four nights

Travelling with small children:
Little ones aged 3 and under stay for free! Let us know before your arrival if you’d like a baby cot or high chair prepared for you.

Municipal tourist tax:
The municipal tourist tax is a fee imposed by the local authorities and must be paid by holidaymakers during their stay. In the municipality of Calheta, the municipal tourist tax is 2 Euros per person per night. This fee is charged in addition to the accommodation rent. It is used to support the local tourist infrastructure and offers.

Policies and Notices

Payment arrangements:
50% at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to arrival.

Cancellation policy:
100% of the deposit paid to confirm a reservation will be refunded if cancellation is made 90 days or more prior to arrival.
75% of the deposit paid will be refunded if cancellation is made 60 days or less prior to arrival.
50% of the deposit paid will be refunded if cancellation is made up to 30 days prior to arrival or earlier. After that 0% refund for cancellation.

Damage deposit:
We strive to maintain a trusting relationship with our guests and therefore do not charge a deposit.
If guests cause damage during their stay that exceeds the value of 10 Euros, this must be reported immediately to the property management, who reserve the right to have the damaged items repaired or replaced by the guest or to have the guest pay appropriate compensation before departure.

When will The Hideaway Madeira Boutique Resort open?

Our Boutique Resort in Prazeres is set to open in late summer 2026. Bookings will be available from Mid-November 2025 - we will inform you about exclusive pre-opening offers.

Until then, you can already stay at our Private Cottage – your secluded retreat with a private pool, garden and ocean view.

What’s the difference between the Private Cottage and the Boutique Resort?

The Private Cottage is a standalone stone house with its own garden and pool – perfect for couples, families or friends seeking total privacy.

The Boutique Resort (just 1.5 km away) will feature six ocean-view bungalows, our bistro & bar, cosy spa & sauna and lush gardens with a pool & a whirlpool. A wonderful place where privacy and connection come together.

How does check-in and check-out work?

How do booking and payments work?

You can book directly through our website.

We accept credit cards, PayPal and bank transfer.

A 50% deposit is required upon booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days before arrival.

What’s the best way to get to Prazeres – and do I need a car?

We recommend renting a car to explore Madeira freely.

The Hideaway Madeira is located in the peaceful village of Prazeres, about 60 minutes from the airport and 45 minutes from Funchal.
‍
Free parking is available at both the Private Cottage and the Boutique Resort.
‍
We’re also happy to assist with car rental or airport transfer arrangements.

Is The Hideaway Madeira family-friendly?

Families are warmly welcome.

We happily provide a baby cot and highchair upon request at both of our venues.
