A great experience for the whole family!

3. Mercado dos Lavradores

Immerse yourself in the colors and scents of Funchal's traditional farmer's market. The kids can sample exotic fruits and discover local specialties – a sensory experience for everyone. It's the perfect place to learn about Madeira's culinary treasures and discover new flavors together. The market is a true feast for the eyes and taste buds, and you'll take home many delicious memories. Besides the culinary delights, the market also offers an impressive selection of plants. If you feel like it, take home a cutting of a bird of paradise or a few flower bulbs as a souvenir.

Our tip: Enjoy a freshly pressed fruit juice at Macaronésia Café on the market hall's rooftop terrace and let your gaze wander over the old town's rooftops. Be mindful of the prices for exotic fruits at the Mercado dos Lavradores. They can be quite high, so check the posted price per kilo beforehand!

4. Cabo Girão

At 580 meters, Cabo Girão is the highest sea cliff in Europe, offering a breathtaking view of the Atlantic and Madeira's coastline. The brave can venture onto the Skywalk with its glass floor platform. The dizzying view is simply stunning! Admission is free for children up to 12 years old; adults pay 2 Euros.

5. Natural Swimming Pools of Porto Moniz

The lava pools of Porto Moniz are one of the landmarka on Madeira's north coast. They were formed thousands of years ago by a volcanic eruption and are now natural swimming pools that are simply fun. Pack your swimsuit and enjoy the swimming fun in this unique setting.

6. Jardim Tropical Monte Palace

The Jardim Tropical is a magical place in a great location on Monte, the "house mountain" of Funchal. The best way to reach Monte is by cable car from Funchal. After the gondola ride, you'll find an enchanting botanical garden, covering over 70,000 m² and home to more than 100,000 plant species from around the world. Your kids will love the beautiful garden and the park's diverse wildlife, including swans, peacocks and koi fish. For the adults, the park's bistro offers a complimentary Madeira wine tasting.
